Update:
A new look Real Madrid, a continued Barcelona evolution, and three new clubs looking to impress, but when are the games?

Much of the global attention when the Spanish domestic league fixtures are announced goes to the two giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona. But let’s not forget that LaLiga is nothing without the other 18 teams that take to the field each week in an attempt to challenge the behemoths, secure a European place, or simply survive.

Unfortunately fans of Elche, Espanyol, and Real Valladolid, who finished in the bottom three spots in LaLiga in 2022/23, will not be watching the unveiling of the schedule but those of Granada, Las Palmas and Alavés will be tuning in with added excitement, ready to note down the biggest clashes into their own diaries.

So to the release. Here’s what you need to know...

How does the LaLiga fixtures announcement work?

Since the 2019/20 season, the LaLiga calendar has followed an asymmetric structure, meaning that the order of matchday fixtures in the first half of the season differs from the second half.

As LaLiga explains, to ensure a comprehensive approach, various factors such as security, European competitions, club needs, ongoing construction projects, national and regional holidays, and the optimization of stadium attendance and television viewership are taken into account through the asymmetrical LaLiga calendar. This process generates an impressive number of 99,999 calendar permutations, among which one is selected through a draw.

The premier division of LaLiga, which will adopt a new official name on 3 July due to a change in title sponsorship, consists of 38 matchdays and a total of 380 matches.

What is the new LaLiga logo?

As you may have heard, the design teams at LaLiga have been busy coming up with a funky new logo for the league. What do you think about it?
