After six rounds of the Liga MX Clausura 2023 tournament, Club América and Pachuca boast the most fearsome attacks in the competition: both top the scoring charts with 14 goals each.

América began their campaign with a scoreless stalemate with Querétaro, but have since netted twice each in high-scoring draws with Toluca, Puebla and Santos; thrashed Mazatlán 6-0 on matchday four; and earned a 2-1 victory over Necaxa on matchday six.

Fernando Ortiz’s forward line has been spearheaded by the regular season’s leading marksman, seven-goal Henry Martín.

Meanwhile, Pachuca opened up with a 5-1 thumping of Puebla, then went down 4-1 to Tigres. A week later, Los Tuzos beat Juárez by the same scoreline on matchday three. That handsome win was followed by 2-1 and 1-0 victories over Necaxa and León, respectively, before a 1-1 draw with Chivas last time out.

Goal-shy Cruz Azul sack Gutiérrez

At the other end of the scale, Cruz Azul have mustered just four goals - and, with the nine-time Mexican champions sitting second bottom after a 3-1 defeat to Toluca at the weekend, Raúl Gutiérrez was fired as head coach on Monday. Three-time Liga MX winner Antonio Mohamed is among those being tipped to take over.

Cruz Azul share the same meagre goals-for column as Querétaro and Tijuana, who are also outside of the playoff spots as things stand.
