England are wearing black armbands tonight in their game against Brazil as they pay tribute to former England manager Terry Venables who died in November.

The English Football Association organised the tribute to Venables who passed away aged 80 on November 25. El Tel, as he was affectionately known, was manager of England from 1994 to the end of the 1996 Euros, where hosts England were knocked out in the semi-finals on penalties by Germany.

Euro 96 squad at Wembley to pay tribute to Venables

The FA has invited the Euro 96 squad, including current England boss Gareth Southgate (who missed the decisive spot kick against Germany), to Wembley to pay tribute ahead of the friendly against Brazil.

Venables, considered one of the greatest coaches of his generation had stints at Crystal Palace, QPR, Barcelona and Tottenham. This followed a playing career where he played for Chelsea, Tottenham, QPR, Crystal Palace and England.
