In case he had didn’t have enough to deal with given the situation with Kylian Mbappé, Paris Saint-Grermain president Nasser Al Khelaïfi has a potentially much more serious issue on his hands, the accusation, by a Franco-Algerian lobbyist, of kidnapping and torture.

Trouble for Al Khelaïfi

The facts are being investigated by the French department of justice and within the framework of that investigation the home of Al Khelaïfi in Paris was searched, as revealed by L’Équipe.

This search that was made without the Ligue 1 club president being present, with him having a rather important press conference appearance for the presentation of new team manager Luis Enrique. The report states that since he had already been delayed due to a search after Al Khelaïfi’s flight landed, following which he had to sign a release to the investigating judge to authorise that the search could be carried out without him being present. This has been contested.

“As fully anticipated and in accordance with due process, the investigating magistrate has requested more information and access, which has been fully and openly provided, in cooperation with the authorities as has been the case from day one,” said a spokesperson for Al-Khelaifi. “As a reminder, Nasser Al-Khelaifi is a victim in this case. And the press conference delay was not for this reason whatsoever.

“No amount of media interviews or desperate briefings by some of the protagonists will change the rule of law or outcome of the matter, the conclusion of which we look forward to.
