Raúl Jiménez was absent from Wolves’ 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday because of chronic fatigue. The Mexico international missed his third game of the campaign and Wolves manager Bruno Lage explained why he was missing against Saints.

I was about the need. We played Raúl three games in a row without him doing a pre-season. It was so hard for him to go to the bench. When he tried to run, it was with little pains, chronic fatigue, as we are in this situation,” said Lage.

Instead of him not being there to help the team for ten minutes, we have another player to help,” he added. Instead, Lage opted to start Sasa Kalajdzic, who arrived at the club from Stuttgart during the summer transfer window and made his debut in the Premier League on Saturday.

Jiménez has struggled to reach peak form because he has been dealing with a series of injuries after recovering from a fractured skull. The Mexico international missed the first two games of the campaign due to a knee injury and he has only played 211 minutes so far.
