The Real Madrid team to take on Real Sociedad on Saturday had one surprise omission as Kylian Mbappé started on the bench for Álvaro Arbeloa’s team. The Frenchman has been suffering with a knee injury in recent weeks but Madrid were hopeful that he would be fit enough to return to the starting XI.
In his absence, young Gonzalo García gets a rare start alongside Vinícius Júnior in attack. Also in the team are Trent Alexander-Arnold and Antonio Rudiger, both returning from spells on the sidelines.
Mbappé starts on the bench against Real Sociedad, suggesting that his condition is not too concerning for Arbeloa. However with a crucial Champions League game against Benfica coming up on Tuesday, Mbappé will get an extended rest.
