Why isn’t Tyler Adams playing today for Bournemouth vs Manchester United in the Premier League?
The USMNT midfielder has impressed for Bournemouth this season but won’t line up against The Red Devils this Friday.

USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams has endured an injury-hit season in the Premier League and will be absent once again as Bournemouth host Manchester United at Vitality Stadium on Friday.
After appearing in three successive games at the end of February and the start of March, Adams dropped out of the Bournemouth squad for last weekend’s draw away to Burnley because of a quad injury.
Quad injury keeps Adams out
That caused the 27-year-old to be omitted from Mauricio Pochettino’s USMNT squad for upcoming friendlies against Belgium and Portugal, while club coach Andoni Iraola confirmed on Thursday that Adams would not be involved for the Cherries against United.
“Tyler is not going to be available, as you suppose, because he hasn’t been in the squad for the U.S.,” Iraola told reporters at a news conference.
Another frustrating setback for Adams
Adams played only three Premier League games in 2023-24, his first season with Bournemouth, because of a recurring hamstring problem. The American managed to stay fit for the majority of last season, appearing 32 times in all competitions, but had another significant spell on the treatment table either side of the New Year.
The New York-born midfielder, who has become a key player for Bournemouth, missed 10 games because of a medial ligament tear and is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks because of his latest issue.
