MANCHESTER UNITED
Will Bruno Fernandes be fit to play for Manchester United against Tottenham?
Fernandes was withdrawn during United’s penalty shoot-out victory over Brighton.
Bruno Fernandes played on despite picking up a knock in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Brighton. The 28-year-old was eventually withdrawn in the 101st minute of United’s penalty shoot-out victory over Roberto De Zerbi’s side at Wembley.
United fans looked on in horror as Fernandes’ partner posted a photo of the Portugal international on Monday with his right foot elevated and pair of crutches.
However, United boss Erik ten Hag has not ruled the playmaker out of featuring against Tottenham in the Premier League on Thursday.
“There are some unavailable - (Lisandro) Martínez, (Raphael) Varane,” Ten Hag said.
“We have to see how Bruno Fernandes is. We don’t know yet, he’s a question mark. But I think for the rest, we are quite OK.
“We all have seen he played a full game and it happened in the first half. Thursday is quick but we have to see coming now what is possible.”
Spurs hoping to bounce back
Ten Hag knows Spurs will be looking to make amends following Sunday’s 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Newcastle at St James’ Park.
He added: “It’s obvious they had a really bad defeat. Of course, then they are mad. That can be fuel for bouncing back.
“But it’s about us. An opponent can never be more hungry than we (are), so that is how we have to prepare the game.
“Make sure tomorrow we are ready to go front foot, be dominant and dictate the game.”
Garnacho making progress
United winger Alejandro Garnacho is making progress in his recovery from an ankle issue but Thursday’s fixture could be too early for the Argentina international.
