Éder Militão and Rodrygo Goes are both expected to be available for Real Madrid’s clash with Villarreal, despite dealing with injury issues in recent days. Having been restricted to limited participation in Madrid’s training session yesterday, Militão and Rodrygo were both able to go through their paces at a higher intensity today, as Carlo Ancelotti’s men finalized their preparations for this weekend’s LaLiga game.

What injuries did Militão and Rodrygo have?

Militão had to be replaced after an hour of Wednesday’s 1-0 Champions League defeat to Lille, having travelled to France with a slight thigh muscle problem. The defender picked up the injury during Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Atlético Madrid last weekend. Meanwhile, Rodrygo was not involved at all against Lille, having struggled with a back complaint since the Madrid derby.

Camavinga and Mbappé good to go

Eduardo Camavinga had also been a potential fitness doubt this weekend, but the Frenchman came through the clash against Lille - his first game time of the season - without suffering any flare-ups to his recent knee injury. During Madrid training today, Camavinga could be seen with a large bandage on his knee, but the 21-year-old is fully fit to face Villarreal.

Kylian Mbappé, who staged a rapid recovery from a hamstring injury to play against Lille, will also be available to Ancelotti for the Groguets’ visit to the Bernabéu. The match is Madrid’s last before the October international break, which Mbappé won’t be involved in: he has agreed with France head coach Didier Deschamps that he will sit out Les Bleus’ UEFA Nations League games against Israel and Belgium.
