FIFA to open new transfer window for clubs
Football’s governing body have decided to open a new set of dates that will allow teams to sign players.
The FIFA Council has approved several measures concerning the 2025 Club World Cup and its specific place in the calendar, which spans from June 15 to July 13.
The key development is the introduction of a new transfer window for federations with participating clubs. This window will run from June 1 to 10, allowing player transfers so they can compete in the expanded Club World Cup, set to be held in the USA with 32 of the world’s elite teams, including Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Bayern, among others.

When is the new transfer window?
According to the regulations, FIFA member associations with participating clubs may open this exceptional transfer window from June 1 to 10, 2025, before the new FIFA competition begins. The decision to open this additional window is at the discretion of each association.
Additionally, given that some player contracts will expire mid-tournament, clubs will be allowed to replace these players during a limited period from June 27 to July 3. The goal is to encourage clubs and players to reach agreements that ensure the players’ participation.
The Council also announced that FIFA’s Governance, Audit, and Compliance Committee will investigate the participation of Israeli soccer teams in international competitions, following a proposal by the Palestinian federation at the last Congress. The committee will advise the Council on this matter.
The 2025 Club World Cup will start on Sunday 15 June 2025 and reach its conclusion with the final on Sunday 13 July 2025. A total of 32 teams will be taking part, of which 30 have already qualified: Real Madrid, Atlético, Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern, Dortmund, PSG, Juve, Inter, Porto, Benfica, Salzburg, Al Hilal, Al Ain, Urawa, Ulsan, Al Ahly, Wydad, Esperance, Mamelodi, León, Rayados, Pachuca, Seattle, Palmeiras, Fluminense, Flamengo, Boca, River and Auckland. As things stand, Inter Miami’s presence is not confirmed.
