Update:

The World Cup is a marketing executive’s dream with big dollar deals and sponsorships agreements to be locked down. Just ask David Beckham who has become the face of the competition promoting beer, banks and furniture stores among other brands this summer.

For the 2026 World Cup cycle, FIFA expects marketing and sponsorship revenue of roughly US$2.5–2.7 billion, making it the biggest sponsorship haul in World Cup history.

Prior to the 2026 competition, all major global sponsorship slots reportedly sold out before the tournament with overall FIFA revenue for the 2023–2026 cycle is projected at around US$13 billion, with sponsorships contributing roughly 20–25% of that total.

Last minute deals can always be struck and this appears to be the case between FIFA and French fashion house Louis Vuitton.

The company is one of the world’s most well-known luxury brands because of its long history of craftsmanship, iconic monogram designs, exclusive products, and strong association with status, fashion, and celebrity culture. Founded in France in 1854, the brand has built a global reputation for high-quality luggage, handbags, clothing, and accessories, making it a symbol of luxury and prestige recognized around the world.

FIFA today announced that LV will be the official supplier of the trophy trunk designed to transport and showcase the World Cup trophy which is unquestionably one of the most iconic in global sports.

Created by Louis Vuitton’s artisans in the historic workshops of Asnières-sur-Seine near Paris, the trophy trunk is covered in the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram canvas. Two front panels feature a hand-painted golden “V” representing “victory” and “Vuitton”, reflecting the colours of the FIFA World Cup Trophy. The exterior is finished with leather trim known as “lozines”, alongside gold-plated brass corner protectors, a lock and clasps that echo designs used by the house since the 1860s. The interior is lined with light beige leather and features a partnership logo between Louis Vuitton and FIFA integrated into the lid.
