Good news for Texas soccer fans: Argentina to play Honduras in a friendly match in June: Tickets, venue, date and time
As the Argentinians gear up to defend their World Cup title, the South Americans are to take on Honduras in a friendly in the U.S.
Argentina’s penultimate friendly before the 2026 men’s World Cup has been announced, with Honduras confirmed as the Albiceleste’s opposition.
Argentina vs Honduras: when and where?
The Argentine Soccer Federation (AFA) has announced that the world champions will take on the Hondurans on Saturday, June 6, in a game played in College Station, Texas. Kyle Field, a 102,000-capacity arena that is home to college football team the Texas A&M Aggies, will host the matchup.
According to Texas A&M, tickets for the World Cup tune-up will go on general sale on Wednesday, April 15, at 10:00 a.m. ET/7:00 a.m. PT.
A World Cup ‘good-luck charm’ for Argentina?
Argentina’s choice of opposition inevitably brings back memories of the buildup to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where the South Americans lifted their third world title.
Argentina faced the Hondurans during one of the final international windows before the tournament, defeating the Central Americans 3-0 in Miami.
Iceland friendly also scheduled
After taking on Honduras on June 6, Argentina then complete their 2026 World Cup preparations against Iceland on Tuesday, June 9, in a game held at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama.
Both friendlies are part of the “Road to 26” series of exhibition games in the U.S., which involve several nations gearing up for this summer’s tournament in North America.
When is Argentina’s 2026 World Cup opener?
Argentina’s World Cup defense begins on June 16, when Lionel Scaloni’s men take on Algeria in a Group J clash in Kansas City, Missouri. The Albiceleste then faces round-robin matchups with Austria on June 22 and with Jordan on June 27 (both in Arlington, Texas).
