The Mexico striker ended a long wait on the World Cup stage, and now the jersey from that memorable moment is attracting intense interest.

Raúl Jiménez's first World Cup goal jersey auctioned online for a record sum
Raúl Jiménez ended a difficult World Cup scoring drought last Thursday when he found the net in Mexico’s opening game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Just days after El Tri’s 2-0 victory over South Africa, the jersey he wore during that landmark moment has been put up for auction, and bidding has already reached eye-catching levels.
Veo poco creíble que según MWS, Raúl Jiménez no se quedó con la camiseta de su primer gol en los mundiales. 🧐

The shirt worn for Jiménez’s first-ever World Cup goal has become a sought-after collector’s item. MatchWornShirt (MWS), a platform specializing in game-worn memorabilia, listed the Mexico forward’s jersey for auction shortly after the victory. With less than a day remaining before bidding closes, the current highest offer stands at about $3,700, though that figure is expected to rise before the auction ends.
The item follows a growing trend in the memorabilia market, where jerseys linked to significant goals often attract substantial interest from collectors. A similar situation occurred after André-Pierre Gignac’s latest goal against Monterrey in the Clásico Regio, when the shirt worn during the match was also auctioned through the same platform.

More Mexico jerseys available to collectors
Jiménez’s shirt is not the only Mexico jersey drawing attention from bidders. Three additional national team jerseys are also available through the auction site, including those worn by Julián Quiñones and Armando González.
At the time of writing, Quiñones’ jersey has attracted bids of around $3,300, while the shirt linked to Gilberto Mora has reached about $2,800. Auctions for all three items remain open until Tuesday, giving supporters additional time to place their bids.

Mexico prepares for South Korea challenge
While collectors compete for a piece of World Cup history, Mexico’s focus remains firmly on the field. El Tri will face South Korea on Thursday at Estadio Guadalajara, looking to preserve its unbeaten record against the Asian side in World Cup competition.
After opening the tournament with a victory over South Africa, Mexico will aim to build momentum and move one step closer to securing a place in the knockout rounds.
