Sticker sensation: Another World Cup blow for Italy
Soccer’s governing body has announced that the official World Cup sticker album will no longer be produced by Italian company Panini.

The world of soccer is changing. A clear sign of that shift is FIFA’s new agreement to have World Cup collectible albums - covering trading cards, stickers and card games - distributed by Topps starting in 2031, instead of Panini.
The Italian company had held exclusive rights to produce these tournament-related items for more than six decades.

“Massive innovation in collectibles”
“An example of the product innovations that will be brought to fans under this new partnership is the highly sought-after player jersey patch program, including debut patches, which will be inserted into football trading cards from 2031 onward,” FIFA said in a statement on Thursday. “All products will be designed and developed through Fanatics Collectibles and produced under the Topps brand.”
“Across the sports landscape, we see that Fanatics are driving massive innovation in collectibles that provides fans with a new, meaningful way to engage with their favorite teams and with their favorite players,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
This landmark deal sidelines Panini, a company that has partnered with FIFA since 1970. That year’s World Cup, held in Mexico, which was the first to feature an official album and collectible stickers.
