Update:

One could be correct in thinking that the chance to see the ‘Last Dance’ from Cristiano Ronaldo with Portugal or seeing Leo Messi in the ‘Albiceleste’ jersey for the last time would be enough to see both Portugal or Argentina topping the list relating to most expensive tickets at the 2026 World Cup.

However, a report from Ticket Data reveals that the hottest team at the forthcoming World Cup are Mexico with the average ‘get-in price’ on the second hand ticket market for a game involving ‘El Tri’ in excess of $1,680. Mexico replace Colombia at the top of the ranking given the volatile nature of the secondary ticket market where prices fluctuate constantly.

According to the data portal, the highest average ticket price currently to see Javier Aguirre’s side in action is approximately $1,680 with no tickets available to see El Tri in action in any of their group stage games for less than $1,000.

Mexico now oust Colombia as the most expensive team to watch at the World Cup with the Cafeteros slipping to fourth place behind Portugal and Brazil.

Colombia-Portugal: hottest ticket

In terms of the group stage alone, the June 27 Group K clash between Colombia and Portugal is the most expensive group stage game with the average ‘get-in’ price at $2,515 at the Miami Hard Rock Stadium via the secondary ticket outlets.

There is however a general trend downwards for many teams with prices slipping on the market and for the first time, may outlets are offering some sub $200 tickets for some of the less high profile nations. For example, the latest ‘get-in’ price for Cape Verde vs Saudi Arabia at the NRG Stadium in Houston is now $167.

Experts claim that this downward trend seems set to prevail, especially for games with perceived smaller nations. However, matches involving the likes of Argentina, Brazil, Portugal and even Scotland with many members of the ‘Tartan Army’ poised to travel to the USA will not suffer significant drops in price.
