United States bans influencers on visas from creating content during the 2026 World Cup
The United States tightens its rules; influencers who create content and monetize it during the 2026 World Cup will be fined.

U.S. officials stated that foreign influencers who enter the country on tourist visas and earn income from content created during their stay may be subject to financial penalties and, in some cases, deportation. The specific consequences will depend on the circumstances of each case.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) explained that the restriction applies to all foreign nationals entering the United States on B-2 tourist visas. Individuals holding this type of visa are not permitted to work or receive compensation while visiting the country.
If the primary purpose of a visit is content creation as an influencer, resulting in income generated from within the United States while physically present in the country, that activity is considered work and requires the appropriate visa, CBP and the Department of Homeland Security stated.
CBP further noted that individuals admitted to the United States under a visitor status for tourism who receive income from a U.S. source may be violating the terms of their admission.
Authorities said they expect thousands of visitors to arrive in the United States for the 2026 World Cup, including a significant number of content creators. Officials added that influencers may be able to challenge penalties if they can demonstrate that their social media accounts were established outside the United States and that any income earned is tied to content produced outside the country.
At this time, U.S. authorities have not clarified the full impact of these new restrictions or the date on which enforcement would begin.
