The United States Men’s National Team is set to make its debut at the 2026 World Cup, a historic tournament the USA are co-hosting alongside Mexico and Canada.

The USMNT, led by manager Mauricio Pochettino, will kick off its Group D campaign against a dangerous Paraguay side looking to pull off a massive opening-match upset.

Mauricio Pochettino favors an attacking lineup

For this highly anticipated World Cup opener, Pochettino is expected to use a balanced formation with a heavily offensive blueprint. The Argentine manager intends to fully unleash his attacking talent to secure a crucial three points right out of the gate.

Matt Freese is projected to start in goal, anchored by a back four of Joe Scally, Tim Ream, Chris Richards, and Antonee Robinson. In the midfield, the dirty work and distribution will fall to the veteran duo of Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie.

Christian Pulisic to spearhead the U.S. attack

Further up the pitch, Giovanni Reyna, Timothy Weah, and captain Christian Pulisic will pull the strings in attack, slotting in just behind central striker Folarin Balogun. With this dynamic starting XI, the United States will look to dictate the tempo from the very first whistle.

Possible United States lineup

  • Goalkeeper: Matt Freese
  • Defenders: Joe Scally, Tim Ream, Chris Richards, Antonee Robinson
  • Midfielders: Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie
  • Forwards/Wingers: Giovanni Reyna, Timothy Weah, Christian Pulisic
  • Center forward: Folarin Balogun

United States vs. Paraguay match time

The blockbuster fixture is scheduled for Friday, June 12, with kickoff set for 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. A sellout crowd is expected to pack the stadium, while millions more tune in across the globe.
