Real Madrid closes in on Yan Diomande as PSG officially pulls out of the race
The Paris club considers the situation exceeds its limits in light of the player’s desire to sign for Real Madrid.
All the cards are now on the table in the Yan Diomande sweepstakes. PSG has officially withdrawn from the battle for the Ivorian striker, acknowledging that the current conditions of the deal exceed what the club is willing to take on.
The emergence of Real Madrid — combined with Diomande’s firm desire to join Los Blancos — pushed PSG to step aside from a transfer they already viewed as slipping away.
PSG out of the running
The European champions had actually come very close to signing Diomande. He even held a phone conversation with Luis Enrique, and talks progressed smoothly thanks to the strong relationship between PSG and RB Leipzig, who recently worked together on multiple deals, including the transfer of Xavi Simons.
Liverpool’s €100 million bid wasn’t enough
PSG wasn’t the only club chasing Diomande. Liverpool offered €100 million (about $109 million), but Leipzig rejected the bid. Once Real Madrid entered the picture, everything changed. The player made it clear he wants to go to the Bernabéu, and Leipzig froze the preliminary agreement they had reached with PSG — a five‑year deal that was close to being finalized.
Real Madrid move is “imminent”
With PSG out, Diomande’s future is now far clearer. According to reporting from AS, Real Madrid already has a full agreement with the player, and the final details with RB Leipzig are being ironed out. The deal is described as a matter of hours.
Los Blancos appear set to land one of Europe’s most coveted young forwards, and Diomande seems determined to make Madrid his next home.
