Update:

The mystery has been resolved: Xabi Alonso will take over as Real Madrid manager starting June 1st. This means he will lead Los Blancos in the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 14th, as announced by Josep Pedrerol on El Chiringuito. This confirmation rules out the earlier possibility of Santiago Solari managing the team during the tournament.

According to the same report, Alonso—currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen and with one Bundesliga match remaining—will sign a three-year contract to begin his new project at Real Madrid, following the confirmed departure of Carlo Ancelotti.

Xabi Alonso to bring in 3 new signings

Alonso is also expected to bring in three new signings. The first, already widely rumored, is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Liverpool right-back recently announced his departure from the club, amid a somewhat strained farewell despite the Reds clinching the Premier League title.

The other two expected additions are a left-back and a centre-back—positions that have clearly emerged as priorities for reinforcement this season.
