Barcelona ace Lionel Messi has left hospital after undergoing lithotripsy shock wave treatment, a non-invasive procedure to break up kidney stones, on Tuesday.

The Argentinian forward missed the semi-final of the Club World Cup against Guangzhou Evergrande in late 2015 due to renal colic.

Barça had announced on Monday evening that tests would be carried out on the 28-year-old "to assess the evolution of the kidney problems he suffered last December".

Messi, who the club confirmed will be back in training on Wednesday, will not be involved in Los Azulgranas' Copa del Rey semi-final second leg at Valencia on the same day (21:00 CET).

With Barcelona leading 7-0 from the first leg at the Camp Nou, the return is a mere formality for Luis Enrique's men.

The Barça boss could therefore opt to rest a number of regulars, and Sergi Samper, Gerard Gumbau, Wilfrid Kaptoum, Juan Cámara and Daniel Romera are likely to be included in his squad for the clash with Los Che.
