Marcelo ruled out of trip to Olympic Stadium
Real Madrid's starting left back has been diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and will miss the Roma match and Athletic next weekend.
Marcelo has been ruled out of the matches against Athletic in the league and Roma in Europe after undergoing tests his shoulder, which revealed the left back has a dislocated right shoulder. The Brazil international will also miss the Liga match against Málaga and the club hope to have him available again for the Madrid derby against Atlético on February 27.
AS understands that the injury is not as serious as the one suffered by Sergio Ramos earlier in the season that kept the Real captain on the sidelines for nine games throughout the season.
Marcelo did not train with the squad on Tuesday. Neither did Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal, who both picked up knocks in the 2-1 victory over Granada on Sunday and remained in the gym. Pepe and Gareth Bale are also in the treatment room as they continue their recoveries from injury, both having missed the last few games. On Tuesday it was revealed that Bale may have suffered a setback on his path to recovery from a calf problem that has been dogging him since his arrival in the Spanish capital.
Real boss Zinedine Zidane gave the squad Monday off and made up the numbers in Tuesday’s session with Castilla players Marcos Llorente and Martin Odegaard. Real’s next match is against Athletic at the Bernabéu on Saturday (16.00).
