Tim Howard to leave Everton for the bright lights of the MLS
The US international is no longer the Toffees’ first choice goalkeeper and rumours are mounting that a move back to his homeland may be on the cards.
Tim Howard’s long-standing love affair with English football appears to be coming to an end. The American shot-stopper has played every season of the Premier League since joining Manchester United back in 2003 but the bulk of his time on the British Isles has been spent with Everton.
Speculation has been brewing over the past few months that the Team USA goalkeeper is planning a move to MLS franchise the Colorado Rapids. Now even Roberto Martínez is hinting that the end of the 36-year-old’s time with the Toffees is near.
“We should appreciate that and give him that warmth between now and the end of the season. I think it’s important that Tim doesn’t feel that all his good work has been forgotten”, the Spanish manager stated.
Howard’s deal with the Merseyside club runs until 2018, but all the signs point to him leaving English shores at the end of the current season.
