Our live text as Leicester City went five clear at the top of the table with victory over Newcastle United in Rafa Benítez's first game in charge of the Magpies.

Leicester Newcastle LIVE

Meanwhile, it's defeat in his first game in charge for Rafa Benítez, one that leaves Newcastle still in the bottom three and still one point from salvation - and with the small matter of 17th-placed North-East rivals Sunderland up next. We'll be back with more live chat as Atlético Madrid host PSV in the Champions League last 16 tomorrow. Till then, ta-ra!

Shinji Okazaki's stunner was the difference as Leicester end the matchday five clear at the top of the Premier League, and another step closer to the most improbable of title wins.

Peep peep peeeeeeep! FT: Leicester City 1-0 Newcastle United.

92' | Ooooh! Mahrez advances on the away defence and looks for the top corner, but is juuuust wide.

88' | Now we're treated to a shot of a red-in-the-face Ranieri wildly waving his arms in the air in a Simeone-esque bid to whip up a nervous Leicester faithful. Can they hold on and go five clear?

86' | Benítez with a final sub as Shelvey comes off for Doubmia.

85' | Now a shooting chance in the box for De Jong, but it's scuffed - and Schmeichel gratefully snaffles it. The Magpies pushing for an equaliser here.

82' | Townsend crosses from the right, Sissoko volleys, and his effort looked like it had 'stayed hit' but Morgan appears to block it with his arm. Nothing doing, though.

"Kante demonstrating tonight why Fergie said the other day that he's been their outstanding player in this campaign," tweets Matt Dickinson of The Times.

76' | Leicester make another change, Marc Albrighton off for Leonardo Ulloa.

Just under twenty minutes to go - Newcastle are by no means out of it, but time is starting to run out for the visitors...

71' | Rafa makes his second sub, replacing countryman Pérez with Siem de Jong.

The tension is too much to bear for a certain famous Leicester supporter, it seems...

65' | First change for Leicester as bicycle-kick hero Okazaki comes off to well-earned applause, Jeff Schlupp coming on.

61' | Pérez at the heart of the danger again, the Spaniard shooting just wide. "Leicester have control of the scoreboard, but not the game," is the verdict of the Spanish commentators...

59' | Ayoze Pérez slips a lovely ball to Sissoko running in down the left, and he really should provide a better ball to pick out a white shirt waiting in the box. A very promising opening wasted there.

54' | Benítez shuffles his pack for the first time as Newcastle boss, Anita making way for Andros Townsend.

52' | Wes Morgan threatens to go all Ricky Villa on us as he charges into the Newcastle area, before Vardy earns a dangerous free-kick on the edge of the box... But Vurnon Anita blocks from Christian Fuchs.

46' | Mahrez bamboozles Jack Colback and Moussa Sissoko down the right, winning a free-kick just outside the box. Albrighton delivers, but Huth can't quite get on the end of it.

Peep! The second half is up and running - no changes on either side.

45'+1 | That's Half-Time. Not the start Benítez would have wanted but can't really complain about the goal - wonderful finish from Okazaki. 1-0 at the break.

45' | One minute of stoppage time to be added.

44' | Ayoze with a shot, but straight at Schmeichel.

40' | Into the final five minutes of the first half. It's been a bit scrappy from both sides. Leicester enjoying more of the ball.

35' | Corner to Leceister, played short and easily cleared by the visitors.

27' | "You're getting sacked in the morning" chant the home fans.

27' | Uyy!! Vardy fires inches wide - close...

24' | Goooaal!!!! Okazaki sakka-senshu !!! with an over-head kick 1-0

18' | Uyy!! Mahrez tries his luck from 20-odd yards out, deflected for a corner.

16' | Sissoko with a header at the back post for Newcastle, got under it - ball goes wide.

13' | Vardy barged off the ball in the Newcastle area. Nothing doing, says the ref.

11' |  Albrighton and Drinkwater both plough balls into the Newcastle box. No problems though for Rob Elliot.

Ranieri and Benítez enjoying life the Premier League but both have occupied the Valencia hotseat during their illustrious careers.

3' | Ayoze just steers the ball wide. Newcastle ontop during these opening exchanges

Peep! We are underway at the King Power Stadium...

A couple of minutes to kick-off and it's all smiles as Rafa and Claudio embrace in the tunnel - will Benítez be beaming come full time?

And the view from Spain? Barça coach Luis Enrique is not so sure the Foxes could repeat the heroics of their fairytale season in LaLiga...

Leicester can go five points clear with victory over Benítez's boys tonight - and manager Claudio Ranieri admits his side are "ready for a battle" against the relegation-threatened Magpies.

Benítez believes: Newcastle's new boss is confident that he has enough quality and time at his disposal to avoid the drop to the Championship.

The Newcastle and Leicester teams are out:

Leicester City: Schmeichel; Simpson, Huth, Morgan (c), Fuchs; Mahrez, Kante, Drinkwater, Albrighton; Okazaki, Vardy.

Newcastle United: Elliot; Janmaat, Taylor, Lascelles, Colback; Sissoko, Anita, Shelvey, Ayoze Pérez; Wijnaldum, Mitrovic.

19th-place Newcastle, meanwhile, find themselves a point from safety (but with a game in hand over Norwich a place above them, and having played two fewer than Sunderland in 17th) and hoping new manager Rafa Benítez, taking charge of the side for the first time against Claudio Ranieri's men, can lead them away from trouble.

Title-chasing Leicester come into the encounter sitting pretty at the top of the table, two points ahead of a Tottenham Hotspur side who - having beaten basement boys Aston Villa on Sunday - have played one more than the Foxes.
