Louis van Gaal’s number two compares Real Madrid’s Welsh forward to ex-team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and reckons Wales will beat England at the Euros.

Ryan Giggs: "Gareth can score from free-kicks, tap-ins, headers, from dribbles and beating players"

Ryan Giggs was asked to comment on Wales’ chances at the upcoming European Championship and on the role Gareth Bale will play for the British nation in France this summer: "Wales aren't a one man team, I think their defence is a real strength”.

The Red Devil legend turned Louis van Gaal assistant was full of praise for his Real Madrid-playing compatriot: "With Gareth, he's just got a bit of everything. He can score from free-kicks, tap-ins, headers, from dribbles and beating players. You can keep him quiet for 85 minutes then all of a sudden he can score from a corner with a header or with a free-kick, just like Ronaldo. He just has phenomenal ability".

The Class of 92 graduate also touched on Bale’s versatility: "He's capable of playing anywhere, he came through at Tottenham on the left but he was great in that No.10 role and at Madrid he plays mostly off the right. But he can player anywhere across the front for Wales, even as a false number nine".

Wales face Roy Hodgson’s England at Euro 2016 (16 June in Lens) and the iconic number 11 is confident Chris Coleman’s men can cause an upset against their next-door neighbours: “I hope Wayne Rooney scores a hat-trick and Wales win 4-3".
