Points ties: who has the edge?
Barça's recent LaLiga stutter has increased the chance of a two-way, or even three-way, tie at the top involving Los Azulgranas, Real and Atleti.
Barcelona's run of one point from their last three LaLiga outings has allowed Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid to sneak back into title contention, with the Spanish capital pair now three and four points behind the leaders, respectively.
And Barça's stuttering form has also given rise to the renewed possibility of a two-way, or even three-way, points tie at the top of the league come the season's end - with any deadlock involving Luis Enrique's side seeing the Catalans prevail.
Meanwhile, Real lose out if they end up level with either or both of their rivals.
LaLiga rules stipulate that if two teams finish with the same number of points, the sides' direct head-to-head record during the league campaign is used as a tie-breaker.
With Barcelona beating Atlético 2-1 home and away this season, the Camp Nou outfit have the edge over Los Rojiblancos, while their 4-0 victory at Real in November gives them the upper hand over their arch enemies, despite succumbing 2-1 in the return El Clásico earlier in April.
A two-way tie between Atlético and Real would fall in Los Colchoneros' favour, after a 1-1 derby draw at the Vicente Calderón was followed by a 1-0 triumph for Diego Simeone's men at the Bernabéu.
Were there to be nothing to choose between all three clubs, the destination of the LaLiga trophy would be decided based on the points earned by each team in their games against the other two. This eventuality would also witness Barça claim the title.
