Raúl believes in the double for Real: “If Zidane says so…”
"Zidane came in two or three months ago and you can’t ask for any more," the Madrid legend stressed.
Raúl González Blanco spoke about the changing shape of the title race in recent weeks. Asked about Zidane’s comment on not just being content with the Champions League, the former Real Madrid striker said: “If Zidane says so…”.
“Zidane came in two or three months ago and you can’t ask for any more. With a chance to win the league, I’m really happy with Zidane and so are the players, as we’ve seen in recent games," he said.
“I believe that you have to wait until it finishes. Obviously Madrid have cut the gap, as have Atlético, because a few games ago they were further away and it looked very difficult. But the football and the games played have made the league tighter. The slightest mistake could be punished, but it’s in Barça’s hands. Everything will be closer if they slip up. The best thing is that there are three teams fighting for LaLiga; all of them have a big chance but the advantage is with the leaders,” he added.
The former Madrid striker also discussed the Champions League: “There are two big semi-finals with Spanish teams. The final in Lisbon could be repeated and that would be better for Spanish football. That’s what I want, though it won’t be easy. They have great squads and great players. I wasn’t surprised by Barça getting knocked out because they’ve been eliminated by a strong team. If you play a big team in the last 16 or quarters you can be knocked out”.
