Update:

Diego Simeone’s brother-in-law Carlos Dibos, who worked as a physical trainer for the Argentina national team, has accused Lionel Messi of having “selected” players and managers for the Albiceleste.

“Messi picked managers and players and did whatever he wanted with the national team. Now the truth is out, we’re sick [of his behaviour] in Argentina. We’re going to make that very clear”, stated Dibos, who worked with the team during Alfio Basile’s rain as manager between 2006 and 2008.

“Resentment, begrudgery and selfishness mean people can have crazy opinions in this country. I can’t believe there are journalists and pundits out there who say Simeone can’t manage the national team because Messi wouldn’t want him in charge. They’re bonkers”, he exclaimed.

With respect to Cholo, Dibos told Radio La Red, “luck hasn’t gotten him to his second Champions League final”.

Diego is constantly working. Nothing is left to chance. Since marrying his sister twenty years ago I’ve spent a lot of time with him. I’ve watched his training session and I take my hat off to him [for the work he is doing]”, he concluded.
