DEPORTIVO-REAL MADRID

I want Real Madrid to win the title, admits Depor's Mosquera

Deportivo's Pedro Mosquera, a Real youth product, was not hiding his affection for Madrid, but scotched talk of easing up - or incentives.

After securing survival in LaLiga on Sunday, Deportivo La Coruña head into this weekend's last-day clash with title-chasing Real Madrid (Saturday, 17:00 CEST) with nothing at stake.

Real Madrid - a very special match

But as the Galicians look for a first league triumph over Real in almost eight years, Deportivo midfielder Pedro Mosquera says there is no shortage of motivation going into the visit of Los Blancos.

"It's a really special game that everyone wants to play in," he said. "It's the last match of the season at our stadium, in front of our home fans, and we're out to get a victory that we haven't managed for a long time."

Real only a point off Barcelona

Zinedine Zidane's Real side make their way to Riazor just one point behind leaders Barcelona, who take on Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes at the same time.

And Mosquera, who came through the youth ranks at the Bernabéu, was not shying away from his affection for the capital club, but scotched any talk of taking it easy.

"I'd rather Real Madrid won the title than Barcelona, but we'll be going after those three points," the 28-year-old stressed. "We'll be going all out to win the match."

Rumours of incentives in title race

As the season reaches its climax, speculation is again rife in Spain over possible third-party bonuses paid to teams with nothing to play for, as an incentive to win games affecting other clubs in crucial areas of the table.

However, Mosquera was categorical on the subject. Denying that such an offer (known as the maletín or 'briefcase') has come the way of the Depor players, he declared: "This squad wouldn't accept it".
