A Catalonia-based football journalist has revealed that Barcelona pair Javier Mascherano and Neymar were involved in a furious bust-up over the Brazilian's 'selfish' play.
"Think more about the team"
Speaking on the radio programme 'El Club de la Mitjanit', Javi Miguel claimed that Mascherano rounded on his team-mate in the wake of Barça's Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Atlético Madrid.
"Stop being so selfish," the Argentina international is alleged to have yelled at Neymar, adding: "Think more about the team".
Slump in form
Despite scoring 30 goals in all competitions this term, Neymar has suffered a dip in form over the second half of the campaign, as concern grows at the club over his off-the-pitch lifestyle.
Although Barça's players have consistently stressed the togetherness that exists in the Camp Nou dressing room, the spat is not the first to have come to light following Los Azulgranas' recent late-season blip.
That slump saw European elimination accompanied by a LaLiga run of one point in four games that allowed Atlético and Real Madrid back into the title race, with Barça then recovering to win their past four top-flight matches.
After Atleti's LaLiga hopes were ended by defeat to Levante at the weekend, Barcelona go into the final day one point ahead of Real in the battle for the Spanish championship.
