Mexico and Spain form select World Cup club
With the group stage now over, the Mexicans and the Spaniards stand apart as the only teams yet to concede at the 2026 World Cup.

The Mexican national team continues to make history at the 2026 World Cup. El Tri, who will face Ecuador in the round of 32, is the only side that won every group-stage game without conceding a single goal.
Mexicans flawless in Group A
Mexico’s journey began in Group A with a 2-0 win over South Africa in the tournament opener at the Estadio Azteca. That match marked the first real test for Javier Aguirre’s squad.
Their second outing came against South Korea in Guadalajara. It was a tighter contest than expected, with stretches of difficulty, but Mexico capitalized on a goalkeeper error to grind out a 1-0 victory. They then closed out the group stage against Czechia with a commanding 3-0 win in Mexico City.
These results are historic for El Tri. This is the first time in team history that Mexico has opened a World Cup by winning its first three group-stage matches.

La Roja also unbeatable at the back
Spain was the second team to advance from the group stage without conceding. However, unlike Mexico, the Spaniards did not win all of its matches, having begun the tournament with a draw.
Spain’s campaign kicked off with a 0-0 stalemate against Cape Verde, before the European champions routed Saudi Arabia 4-0 and edging Uruguay 1-0.
Having topped Group H, Luis de la Fuente’s men now face Austria in the round of 32.
