The second seed reached the title match in Paris for the first time with a comprehensive 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 semi-final win over the Swiss title-holder who was on a 12-match winning streak in the tournament. He will now face world number one Novak Djokovic on Sunday after the Serb earlier overcame Dominic Thiem of Austria in a 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 victory.

 Fred Perry last British winner

In reaching the final, Murray equals the feat of Britain's last finalist Bunny Austin – and now hopes to match Fred Perry's Roland Garros victory of 1936. The Scot is also now one of only 10 men in the open era to have made the final of all four Grand Slam tournaments.
