Rulli keen to stay at Real Sociedad despite interest from Manchester City

Carlos Vela and Rulli are both keen to continue in San Sebastián but Diego Reyes, who impressed last season, lookset to return to Porto.

Update:
Rulli keen to stay at Real Sociedad despite interest from Manchester City

Real Sociedad’s Technical Secretary Loren admitted that interest from Manchester City could scupper the club’s plan to buy goalkeeper Gero Rulli this summer. The Basque club have reserved eight million euros to buy the 23-year-old Argentina international outright from Uruguayan second tier outfit CD Maldonado, the owners of the player's economic rights. But Real Sociedad’s Director of Sport Lorenzo Juarros García, or ‘Loren’ as he is more commonly known said this evening that while Rulli is adamant that he wants to stay in San Sebastián and gain regular playing time which will help him develop his international career with Argentina, the club now faces a fight to keep him with Manchester City knocking hard at the talented young keeper’s door.

Loren explianed, “Rulli is a player who was relatively unknown when he first arrived in San Sebastián and today, there are a lot of clubs who are interested in signing him. That makes our plans more difficult even though the player is keen to stay here with us – he has stated so on many occasions as have his agents. In Rulli’s case there is a third party in the middle of any operation – a investment fund; one of the teams who have shown an interest in the player is Manchester City, who have the funds to be able to buy him. We don’t know how keen Manchester City are in signing Rulli, it’s possible that they are and if that is the case then it would complicate our efforts to keep him as it all boils down to what the third party owners have in mind”.

Loren also spoke about the situation concerning Mexico international Diego Reyes, whose loan spell at La Real is at any end. “We’ve spoken to Porto about Diego and it’s not looking hopeful. The situation is very complicated” was all the Technical Director would say on the matter. As for Carlos Vela who has been linked to a move to MLS, Loren said, “He's committed to stay and at this moment in time, Vela has more chance of staying with Real Sociedad than leaving”.
