The €40 million arrival of Michy Batshuayi at Chelsea may not pave the way for a Diego Costa departure after all. That’s because new coach Antonio Conte wants Costa to stay and form a formidable strike partnership with Álvaro Morataif Chelsea mange to tempt the forward to Stamford Bridge – with Batshuayi supplementing the two up front.

Costa part of Conte plans

If Morata doesn’t make his way to West London from Real Madrid, Granziano Pellè would be Conte’s chosen player to partner the ex-Atletico Madrid man Costa, with the Italian having performed impressively under Conte (his current national coach) at Euro 2016.

The Telegraph reports that Diego Costa - who's been continually linked with a move back to Atlético - will now likely start next season at Chelsea, with Conte having made it clear the Brazilian-born Spain international will play a part in his revolution at the club. Meanwhile Chelsea’s major summer transfer target – aside from Morata – remains Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante.
