Spain have named their opponents for their next match, one which will also serve as the first game for the national side's yet-to-be-announced new coach.

As revealed by president of the Spanish Football Federtion (RFEF), Ángel María Villar, at the RFEF general assembly on Friday, the friendly encounter will be against Belgium, the world's second placed side in the current FIFA rankings.

1 September, Brussels

The game will go ahead on 1 September in Brussels, a few days before Spain kick off their World Cup 2018 Qualifying campaign on 5 September against Lichtenstein.

Like Spain, Belgium will also be planning to have named a new coach in time for the friendly, after sacking Marc Wilmots on Friday following the country's quarter-final elimination in Euro 2016 at the hands of Wales.

In the previous 22 meetings, Spain have won 11 times, with Belgium victorious on six occasions and the other five matches ending in draws.
