Official: Barça complete five year deal for Paco Alcácer
The Camp Nou will pay 30 million euros plus add-ons for the Spain striker, who leaves Valencia after more than a decade at Mestalla.
Paco Alcacer signs for Barcelona
Barcelona have confirmed the transfer of Paco Alcácer after weeks of tense negotiations with Valencia. The deal for the Spanish international was finalized yesterday after he passed a medical and club directors gave the go ahead to the transfer which finally gifts Luis Enrique the fourth strike option he had been seeking all summer.
Nolito, Gameiro
Barça's priority was to add a striker but they lost out on signing Nolito and Kevin Gameiro, with the former joining Manchester City and the latter Atletico Madrid.
Alcácer is Barca's fourth attacking option behind Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Neymar. He scored 13 times last season in La Liga.
Alcácer had been at Valencia since 2005 and has featured at every age-group level for Spain. The Torrente-born player is the Catalan side's sixth singing of the summer following the arrivals of Jasper Cillessen, Denis Suárez, Lucas Digne, Samuel Umtiti and André Gomes.
Alcacer has signed a 5-year contract at the Camp Nou and will have a buy-out clause of €100 million. Barcelona have paid €30 million for the forward with another €2 million due in variables.
“Hard work, humility and professionalism”
Alcacer spoke with Barça TV expressing his delight at the move. “I’m happy to be here at such a huge club,” he said. “I bring with me hard work, humility and professionalism. And, of course, goals. A striker lives on goals and I hope to do well. I want to be a big success at Barcelona.”
The club is yet to announce a date for Alcacer’s presentation as he’s currently on international duty with Spain ahead of La Roja’s friendly with Belgium on Thursday night.
