Isco would only leave to go on loan to Málaga or Tottenham

Isco looks to be on his way from Real Madrid

Real Madrid player Isco's future is up in the air. After the club took the decision to keep James in the squad, bosses at the Bernabéu have indicated to the Spanish midfielder that his best bet would be to seek a move away from Real Madrid, where he'll get to play more than he would under Zidane.

Isco would leave on loan

Ahead of Isco are Asensio, James, Lucas Vazquez and even Kovacic, who looked to be out of the picture at the end of the last season, but whose commitment (cutting short his holidays) and his play, has convinced Zidane to give him a chance. 

If Isco does leave it will be on loan, Real Madrid are very much aware of the pending FIFA transfer ban. Isco however doesn't want to go, but there are two possible offers he would be keen to take up. And he's very much aware that if he does stay, he won't get to play much.  

Tottenham or Málaga

Tottenham are the latest club to come calling for Isco. Pochettino has talked to the midfielder to try and convince him about a move to the Premier, with Champions League action thrown in as a major sweetener. Isco is said to be doubtful about a move to England though. 

The other option, which Isco and his entourage prefer, would be a return on loan to Málaga. While what Isco really wants is to stay at Real Madrid, he'd accept a return to a club where he was idolised (and stunned Europe with his performance against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League) and to his native city. 

Isco's great first season

Isco's first campaign at Real Madrid was a success: fine performances and 11 goals and 7 assists in 53 games. The player at that point was one of the Bernabéu's favourites and the club saw him as a major part of the future of the squad. However instead of improving, Isco's performances and stats fell away. In the next season he scored just 6 goals and set up 8, despite playing the same number of games. 

Isco missed out on Euro 2016

Last season Isco's performances got even worse. He failed to carve himself out a spot in either Benítez' or Zidane's starting line-ups. He was even whistled in the Bernabéu, where he had previously always been adored. He scored 5 and set up 10 in 43 games, with that being the fewest number of matches he'd taken part in as a Real Madrid player.

His slump in playing time and performances saw him left out of Euro 2016, despite having been a regular during qualifying. And that in turn left the Bernabéu bosses even colder towards him. They've now told him it's time to seek his football elsewhere, for the moment.
