Courtois: "After Euro 2016, you could see what would happen with Casillas"

Thibaut Courtois joined Roberto Martínez in looking ahead to Belgium's friendly against Spain; the goalkeeper spoke about Iker Casillas's situation, and Diego Costa's frustrated attempt to return to Atlético de Madrid...

Casillas: "After Euro 2016, you could see what was coming with Casillas. Lopetegui went to see him, spoke with him and now the details of that conversation have come out. But Spain don't have any worries as far as the goalkeeper's position is concerned because they've got De Gea who is a brilliant keeper and now he's their first choice.

Diego Costa and Del Bosque: "Diego Costa felt a bit deceived when he wasn't in the list for the Euros. He was very upset about that and we could all see it at Chelsea, but now with Lopetegui he's back, he's hungry and determined to do well with Spain".

Diego Costa and Atleti: "I can understand why he would be interested in going back to Atlético, but I am just happy that he is staying with us at Chelsea because he's a great striker and we really need him. I for one am very happy that he's continuing at Chelsea".

Cesc: "He's not first choice at Chelsea any more, but he's training at his best level. I think now we are going to discover the player he really is, an exceptional midfielder; once he's back gaining regular playing time with Chelsea, I don't think he'll have any problems getting a recall from Spain".

No favours from best mate Koke: "I've spoken to Koke and I think we are going to see a slightly different Spain. I asked him to give me the lowdown on the team - a bit of idea about what changes were going on but he wouldn't tell me anything. But Spain is one of the big footballing nations - one of the few who can present so much talent on the pitch".
