Barcelona VP Vilarrubí on FIFA ban: "They were all against us"
Barcelona VP Carles Vilarrubí says the club faced a very different reaction from the media when the club was handed a similar transfer ban by FIFA two years ago.

Barcelona Vice-President Carlse Vilarrubí has criticized the response to the FIFA transfer ban handed down to Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid this week.
Double standards at work
Speaking to Catalan radio station RAC1 about the two-window transfer ban imposed on both Madrid sides relating to the transfer of players under the age of 18, Vilarrubí contrasted the aftermath of the decision to that when a similar ban was given to Barcelona in 2014: “we didn’t have any support.”
Though he made clear that the punishment represents “the same injustice and disproportionate action that we faced,” he reminded listeners of one clear difference. “They were all against us.”

He also criticized the media for what he believes is unequal treatment with regards to Spain’s other big clubs. “Our country’s media should take a look at themselves and at what they wrote when FIFA gave Barcelona the same punishment.”
He added: “Two years ago we didn’t have the support of any other clubs. Quite the contrary, we had a terrible campaign against us. We were accused of child trafficking and some of the front pages were absolutely awful. We know who was behind it all.”
