Gareth Bale’s involvement in Sunday’s LaLiga visit to Espanyol is in serious doubt after he took a knock during Wednesday’s Champions League win over Sporting Lisbon. The Welshman went off after an hour and met with team doctors this morning to assess the extent of the injury. Either James or Lucas Vázquez, who replaced Bale on Wednesday, are likely to start in his place.

Training as usual

Zinedine Zidane's squad trained without Bale this morning at 11:00 CEST at the Valdebebas facility ahead of the Espanyol match (Sunday, 20:45 CEST).

The draw for the Club World Cup – in which Real Madrid will participate after winning the Champions League – will take place at FIFA’s Zurich headquarters on the 21st September. The tournament will be held in Japan between the 8th and 18th December.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the second most-followed celebrity on social media. The Portuguese forward has 238 million followers, trailing only American music star Taylor Swift.

New boot presentations

Lucas Vázquez, Nacho and Champions League match-winner Álvaro Morata will showcase their new boots for the season at an event in Madrid this evening. Morata has made a particularly impressive start to the season after returning to the Bernabéu following two-year spell at Juventus.
