Cristiano resumes club duties with Betis trip in mind

Cristiano and Pepe return from duty with Portugal. James was out on the training pitch for the first time since his injury while Kroos was given the day off.

Portugal pair return to Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe were back under the orders of Zinedine Zidane today, as Real Madrid turn their thoughts to Saturday's trip to Betis.

Madrid's international players have been gradually reincorporated back into the squad over the past week after completing commitments with their respective national sides. The latest in return were Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe who took part in Portugal's meeting with the Faroe Islands on Monday night.

Varane in the gym, day off for Kroos

Raphaël Varane, who was involved in France's win over Holland on the same day, didn't train with the group and exercised in the warmth of the gym on a rainy day at Valdebebas. Meanwhile Toni Kroos, who was in action with Germany against Northern Ireland last night was granted a day to rest on his return, although he did have other commitments - such as signing his contract extension until 2022 with the club.

Casemiro, Sergio Ramos and Luka Modriccontinue with their own recovery programmes while James Rodríguez and Fábio Coentrão are close to returning to train with the squad but today, continued with their respective rehabilitation regimes.

Zidane delves into the reserves

Once again Zidane  called on a number of reserve and youth team players to make up the numbers in Wednesday's session - Abner, Enzo, Tejero, Salto, Borja and Quezada all training with the senior players.
