Cristiano appeals as Morata scores Real Madrid winner

As super-sub Álvaro Morata knocked in Madrid's winner, his strike partner Ronaldo raised his hand at turned to the assistant. Some say he wanted the goal disallowed.

Cristiano raises his hand as Morata scores for Real Madrid.

For the collective or the individual

As Álvaro Morata followed in his own shot which was only partially saved by Athletic Bilbao's Iraizoz, scoring what turned out to be the winning goal in a generally frustrating night for Los Blancos, his strike partner Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to turn to the assistant linesman and raise his hand in his direction.

Another game at the Bernabéu with no goals for Madrid's number seven gave some people the idea that he was claiming for offside under the pretence that he would rather have his teammate's goal ruled out giving himself the opportunity to be the hero of the day. No really, some people did think this.

Fortunately there are plenty others out there who understood that had Morata not scored, and Madrid had gone on to drop more points, it would have looked even worse on all of the players involved. Being part of a successful team - one currently topping LaLiga - is the best thing that could happen to a player, no matter what your individual stats say...just look at the European Championships if recent, and relevant, proof was needed.
