Bale never doubted: he always wanted to stay at Madrid

Everything he wanted

It’s been almost two weeks since Gareth Bale signed his new contact with Real Madrid. The negotiations began back in February, and they weren’t complicated, just long. The player can feel the sensation of having got everything he wanted, including the possibility of spending the most important years of his career with what is considered one of the best clubs in the world.

Manchester United have called Bale every summer since he left Tottenham to try and convince him that the best league for him is in England. But he never doubted that what he wanted to do was to improve at Madrid, win space and territory in the team, and above all, triumph.

Gareth Bale tied his long term future to Real Madrid on October 30, 2016 by extending his contract with the Spanish giants to 2022, the club confirmed.

Still room to improve

The club have insisted that the Welshman is the present of the institution, not only the team, and that that he’s at the point of arriving at the day when winning or not winning depends more than ever on him. There continues to be the impression that he’s still playing with the shackles on this season, but such an analysis surely considers that Zidane’s side are in a phase where injuries and rotations have failed to achieve a cruising speed to help Bale become more influential. In any case, he is the only Madrid star who has improved over the last season and surely the player who can further grow. And he will do it, as he dreamed, in Madrid.
