Cristiano Ronaldo scored a superb scissor-kick volley in the 84th minute of the Portugal - Austria World Cup qualifier in Faro to make it 3-1 at that point. Portugal went on to win 4-1, a victory that puts them into second place in group B, behind Switzerland.
Ronaldo scored one penalty and missed his second
Ronaldo opened the scoring, slotting home a penalty after 27 minutes. And he had another spot-kick with the score still at 1-0, but this time he smashed his effort of the base of the left hand post, with the ball running along the line, hitting the keeper and bouncing to safety.
Latvia then levelled, before William Carvalho hit back instantly with a header to make it 2-1. Ronaldo then popped up with his fine strike, before Bruno Alves rounded off the night for the hosts with a back-post header into stoppage time.
