Real Madrid ahead of the rest in Europe right now, says poll
Following Real's derby victory, France Football's online readers say Los Blancos are the continent's stand-out team at present.
In the wake of Real Madrid's win at Atlético Madrid, a poll in the French press has declared Los Blancos as the continent's top side as things stand in 2016/17.
Zinedine Zidane's men went four points clear at the head of LaLiga in Saturday's derby as Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick earned a 3-0 victory at the Calderón.
69% say Madrid are presently the best
And France Football has asked its online readers "Are Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid currently the best team in Europe?", with a clear majority voting 'yes'.
69% of just over 8,000 participants in the survey answered in the affirmative, with just 31% replying that Real are not the stand-out European side right now.
Real need a point in the Champions League
The Champions League holders, who are unbeaten this season in all competitions, face Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday out to seal their place in the last 16.
Los Merengues need a point at the Estadio Jose Alvalade to go through, while they are guaranteed to top Group F with wins from their remaining two games.
