Osasuna 0-3 Barcelona live online: Report, goals and action

Barcelona - Espanyol

Osasuna 0 - 3 Barcelona: Second half summary

Another Lionel Messi master class proved Osasuna's undoing as Luis Enrique's side kept the pressure on Real Madrid with an impressive second half performance despite missing a number of chances in the first half.

Luis Suarez opened the scoring after excellent work from Lionel Messi to play Jordi Alba through before the Uruguyuan rolled Alba's cross home. There was a question of offside but the goal was coming either way and it would prove to break Osasuna's resistance. Messi made it two shortly afterwards when he dinked home another Alba cross with Nauzet, who was excellent in the first half, left helpless in the Osasuna goal.

Messi wrapped it up in injury time when he kept his composure to fire past Nauzet and a host of Osasuna defenders in their penalty area. The scoreline might make it seem easy but Osasuna put up quite the challenge for an hour before the Suarez goal hurt them beyond measure.

Luis Enrique's side are three points behind Real Madrid now with los Blancos set to play Deportivo La Coruña at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night, attempting to reset the six point lead they had at the start of the weekend.

Osasuna 0 - 3 Barcelona: Second half

Min 90 + 2 | GOAL! Messi makes it three with a calm finish despite being surrounded by Osasuna defenders. That gives him two for the day and 11 on the season. Game, set and match!

Min 87 | Those two goals, as you might expect, have taken the sting out of the game and have all but extinguished Osasuna's challenge. It was fun while it lasted though.

Min 84 | Rafinha catches Clerc, who looks to have turned his ankle.

Min 82 | Osasuna with a chance. Berenguer tries a cross that looks like it is going in but Ter Stegen tips it over.

Min 80 | Marquez breaks free down the right hand side but his cross is feeble and cut out by Barcelona.

Barcelona substitution: Rafinha comes on in place of Andre Gomes.

Min 72 | GOAL! Messi with the most delicate of touches to guide the ball goalward at the front post. Nauzet had no chance as he is left scrambling. Messi up to 10 along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez in the Pichichi standings.

Osasuna substitution: Kenan comes on for Riera in an effort to spruce up their attack.

Min 68 | Talk about Messi trademark moves, he just made an impossible move and shot to Nauzet's left but the Osasuna goalie was equal to it. Corner Barcelona as those first half jitters seem to have disappeared.

Barcelona substitution: An ineffective Arda Turan calls it a day. Denis Suarez his replacement.

Osasuna substition: The home side lose their second starting defender as Oier is forced off looking uncomfortable. His replacement is Tano.

Barcelona still loitering around the 80% possession mark.

Min 60 | Osasuna try to respond immediately but Sergio Leon is about a half a mile offside.

Min 59 | GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Luis Suarez gives Barcelona the lead. Messi with what is becoming one of his trademark through balls and Alba plays it to Suarez. The Barca number nine rolls it into the net.

Min 55 | Movement on Barcelona bench as Enrique and Unzue plot a change. Denis Suarez appears to have stepped up his warm-up.

Min 53 | Sergio Leon looking for anything he can get up front. Forces Samuel Umtiti into a last gasp tackle as Pique comes back to help out and clear the danger. Leon's speed proving a thorn in Barcelona's side, not helped by their high defensive line.

Min 51 | Ivan Marquez booked for a cynical foul on Messi.

Min 49 | Sergio Leon races clear but as Barcelona's defenders close in on him he tries an ambitious chip. Ter Stegen watches as it floats ove rhim and rattles the crossbar. So close!

Min 46 | We are underway as Barcelona look to make a breakthrough against La Liga's bottom club.

Osasuna substitution: David Garcia replaces Flaño.

Osasuna 0-0 Barcelona: First half summary

Despite making a number of chances, there appears to be an lingering nervousness that see them snatching at these opportunities while remaining relatively jittery at the back. Luis Suarez was the first to miss a chance he might normally sore but the biggest culprit has been Lionel Messi. Put through on goals twice, typically that would mean a 2-0 Barcelona lead but his first effort was saved by Nauzet and a trailing leg and the second, an attempted chip, was palmed over by the Osasuna goalkeeper too.

You get the sense that Barcelona will score but Osasuna have had a couple of chances too and are not sitting as deep as many might have expected them to. It will be interesting to see what Luis Enrique does at half-time as anything but a win tonight would put their La Liga title defense in serious jeopardy.

Osasuna 0-0 Barcelona: First half

Min 45 + 1 | Half-time. 0-0. Exciting game we have on our hands.

Min 44 | A rare Osasuna chance. Sergio Leon plays Riera through but there's too much on the pass as it dribbles wide.

Min 43 | Alba squares it to Messi but he slices wide again.

Min 42 | Another chance gone as Messi pokes wide. As we close in on half-time without Barcelona scoring, Osasuna sense this would be huge. Barcelona the same.

Min 40 | Flaño is back and Arda Turan throws him to the ground in an effort to win the ball back. He does but the referee says it was fair. Fans at El Sadar respectfully disagree.

Min 36 | As a result of the tackle that Flaño hurt himself during, Barcelona are awarded a free kick. The rebound lands to Iniesta who has a volley that goes just wide.

Min 34 | Slight delay now as Osasuna's captain Flaño is helped off the field. He makes it off the field and looks ready for action again.

Min 33 | Arda tries a lifft backheel to Suarez but there's too much mustard on it and it rolls into Nauzet's hands.

Min 30 | Osasuna so nearly take the lead. De Las Cuevas takes down a cross from Berenguer and has a shot, but he drags it just wide. Oriel Riera is lurking at the back post and almost gets his foot on the end of it.

Min 27 | Jordi Alba is tackled late by Oier. If there was any doubt of contact, Alba's ripped sock and cut on his leg probably persuaded the referee to dish out the yellow to the Osasuna right-back.

Min 25 | Messi finds Suarez, who returns the favour and puts him through again. He opts for a chip this time but Nauzet is equal to it and puts it over for a corner.

Min 23 | Suarez on the break again but he was a little too excited that time and gets caught offside. He is finding space between Oier and Flaño though, which could and probably will prove troublesome for Osasuna.

Min 21 | Suarez breaks free, checks his run and launched a pass towards Messi but it is cut out by Flaño.

Min 19 | Osasuna are breaking with purpose and might trouble Barcelona if they can keep their composure up front.Another counter breaks down for them down the left-hand side.

Osasuna are pressing quite high on Barcelona's defenders and Ter Stegen. Their intensity also causing them to give away a lot of frees. They have to keep their temerity in check.

Min 15 | One of those days? Suarez serves it to Messi on a plate but Nauzet saves the shot with his foot. As good a chance as you will see.

Min 14 | After Sergi Roberto is bundled over by Clerc, Messi chips the free towards Umtiti. The central defender can't grow tall enough to reach it though as it skims the top of his head.

Min 13 | Suarez is getting closer. This time he hits the post after good work from Jordi Alba on the left-hand side.

Min 11 | Berenguer goes down under a tackle from Pique, which looked late, but play continues. The referee brings play back though and Osasuna have a free kick.

Min 8 | Not entirely sure what part of the foot Messi just used to put Luis Suarez through on goal. It was perfectly weighted and was more of a prod than a pass, but the Uruguyuan slices just wide with Nauzet doing well to close him down.

Min 5 | They're doing okay though - as you might expect. Holding the ball and showing patience early on.

The remnants of last night's frost still sitting on the pitch at El Sadar, which might make Barcelona's style difficult to implement. The ball isn't rolling as smoothly on the turf as they might like.

Min 2 | Sergio Leon races in behind Barcelona's defense but Pique races back to get a tackle in. Corner for the home side after an encouraging move.

Min 1 | Martinez Munuera gets us underway with a PEEP of his whistle. Vamos! Barcelona in their sea foam green strips.

Osasuna - Barcelona: Latest news

12:53 | Arda Turan, fresh of his Champions League hat-trick, will look to replace Neymar's ingenuity on the left flank today. The Brazilian is suspended after picking up his quote of yellow cards with his booking against Real Madrid.

12:46 | We are just minutes away from kick-off as Barcelona try to close the gap on Real Madrid. The good news, maybe, for Barca is that Real Madrid are without BBC. The last time they played without any of their front three in La Liga they lost to Luis Enrique's Celta Vigo side 2-0. Rafinha, who was on loan at Balaidos that season, was in the squad that day. He's on the bench today.

12:42 | It looks really chilly in Osasuna. Our resident weather forecaster tells us it is a measly four degress.

12:32 | PICHICI WATCH! Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, who both have nine goals each this season will look to move ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo (10) given the Real Madrid attacker's absence from Zinedine Zidane's squad.

12:30 | Osasuna have picked up just two points from a possible 21 at home this season, losing five and drawing two of their games there. They have more points away from home (4) than they do in their own ground.

12:26 | Osasuna have lost four on the trot and have only scored once in that time. Those losses came against Alaves, Leganes, Atletico Madrid and Sporting Gijon. Not the greatest fixture in football to try and reverse your luck but Osasuna are fighting for their La Liga lives at this point.

12:09 | Luis Enrique opts for Umtiti and Gerard Pique at the heart of his defense with Mascherano dropping to the bench for their trip to El Sadar.

Meanwhile, Andre Gomes, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta look to ignite a floundering Barcelona engine room in recent weeks with no place in the team for Ivan Rakitic. It seems the former Valencia midfielder, Gomes, has moved ahead of the Croatian in the pecking order.

In our never-ending search for savvy acronyms, we will be going with MAS today for Barcelona's trio - Messi, Arda and Suarez. He will be hoping for plenty more from them than what MSN offered against Real Sociedad during their last La Liga outing.

12:01 | Arda Turan starts today, fresh from a spot of cheeky hat-trick action in midweek.

11:24 | The AS Oracle's weekend got off to a bad start on Friday night - can things turn around today? Here's what our resident clairvoyant reckons will be a-happenin' at El Sadar.

10:19 | Barça boss Luis Enrique took time out from his preparations to offer the media his customary pre-match musings on Friday. Here's what he had to say.

Osasuna-Barcelona: match preview

Both teams come into this clash in desperate need of the points, if for contrasting reasons. Osasuna now find themselves bottom of LaLiga, five points from safety; meanwhile, Barça have ground to make up on leaders Real Madrid.

Osasuna

A side with just one Primera División win this term - and none at home - Los Rojillos replaced coach Enrique Martín with Joaquín Caparrós in early November. So far, however, Caparrós appointment has borne little fruit: three league defeats in three, with last week's reverse to fellow strugglers Sporting Gijón seeing them replace Granada as the table's basement boys.

But despite their dismal form at El Sadar this season, Osasuna can at least take heart from a reasonable recent home record against Barcelona, having lost just three of the Catalans' last nine top-flight visits - most recently holding them a to goalless draw in October 2013.

Barcelona

The Camp Nou outfit travel to Pamplona out to arrest a run of three straight LaLiga draws - the last of which saw arch rivals Madrid maintain a six-point advantage over Luis Enrique's men.

Barça are again without the suspended Neymar, so Arda Turan - who sought to atone for his role in Real's El Clásico equaliser with a hat-trick against Borussia Mönchengladbach - is in line to retain his place in a side set to welcome back a number of individuals rested in the midweek Champions League dead rubber.
