Transfer market: live updates

00:00 | There was transfer news on the managerial front earlier today, as LaLiga strugglers Sporting Gijón replaced Abelardo Fernández with Rubi.

23:58 | Meanwhile, another bid from the continent for a Leicester player was reportedly recieved today as Malag try to lure right-back Luis Hernandez to the south of Spain.

23:42 | Leonardo Ulloa, who remains firmly a back-up in Claudio Ranieri's Leicester City side, is wanted by Alaves and the club have been approached over a move. Alaves a struggling up front and need a goalscorer but Ranieri is said to be keen to keep the player in the squad.

22:30 | L'Equipe says Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that a deal is in place to take Memphis Depay from Manchester United to the French club.

19:47 | Not a done deal by any stretch but speculation over Antoine Griezmann's future is bound to keep growing with Diego Simeone saying he will not tie anybody down to stay at the vicente Calderon.

19:20 | Middlesbrough have confirmed the signing of Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford, who spent the 2014/15 season on loan at the Riverside, on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

18:50 | French newspaper L'Equipe reports that Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais have agreed a fee with Manchester United for Dutch winger Memphis Depay, who has endured a disappointing time at Old Trafford since joining in 2015.

17:15 | Reports of Louis van Gaal's retirement from coaching appear to have been a tad premature, with the Dutch master stating on Wednesday that he is not hanging up his chalkboard just yet. He also revealed that he turned down the Valencia gig and will see what offers come his way after "a sabbatical."

16:30 | Real Madrid are in the market for a new keeper in the summer and after reported interest in David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois Italian daily Tuttosport have thrown the name of Milan and Italy stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma into the hat.

15:15 | Making much more sense is the news that Manchester United are interested in Monaco left back Bejamin Mendy.

15:00 | Apparently Hebei Fortune have made a 25 million pound bid for Celtic's Scott Brown... we think we'll file that one under bull in a China shop.

15:00 | Done deal! In a tidy piece of business Swansea City have snapped up Spurs promise Tom Carroll for a fee of around five million euros.

14:30 | Arda Turan may be in a rich vein of form for Barcelona but with the Camp Nou coffers empty and the small matter of meeting the price of Leo Messi's contract extension, it is far from a foregone conclusion that a huge offer from China would not be welcomed.

13:20 | In an interview with Sport Bild, Martin Odegaard has stressed that he sees his loan deal with Heerenveen as "a step forward", but hasn't given up hope of playing for Real Madrid again.

11:50 | Sky Sports, as well as a host of other UK newspapers this morning, say Antoine Griezmann is on Manchester United's radar, though a deal with Atletico Madrid -- if done -- will not be agreed before the summer.

10:40 | Lionel Messi has given a clear indication that he wants to stay at Barcelona for the rest of his career, telling Coach magazine: "I'll be there as long as they want me to be?. It could be interpreted from that answer, however, that he feels the club are hesitating with his new contract...couldn't it? Or is that reading too much into it?

10:10 | Ex-Ajax player and current coach of Strømsgodset, Andre Bergdölmo, says Martin Odegaard will "never play” if he goes back to the Spanish capital, and should stay in Holland instead.

09:50 | Luke Shaw is "almost certain" to leave Manchester United, according to The Independent.  Jose Mourinho is reportedly frustrated at the fullback's lack of development and the club are open to offers.

09:40 | Italian newspaper Tuttosport claims Juventus want to swap Miralem Pjanic for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean has 18 months remaining on his Gunners deal and the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are all also tracking the striker.

09:30 | Good morning! Stay right where you are for live transfer news -- both rumours and done deals -- all throughout the day.
