On Thursday, after visiting the Pachuca in the first leg of the Clausura 2026 semifinals, Pumas hit a truly dismal mark in Liga MX.

A 1-0 defeat left Efraín Juárez’s men needing a win on Sunday - and marked their 13th straight match without a victory in the Mexican league’s postseason.

Over those 13 games, Pumas have managed six draws and seven losses, scoring just 14 goals while conceding 25.

In this postseason - having entered as leaders of the regular season - they’ve posted two draws against América, along with Thursday’s loss at Estadio Hidalgo against Pachuca.

Pumas have now matched an unwanted stretch previously recorded by Cruz Azul, Atlas and Chiapas.

When was the last time Pumas won a playoff game?

To find Pumas’ last victory in the postseason, you have to go back to the Apertura 2023, when they thrashed Chivas in the quarterfinals of that tournament.

That same campaign also marked the beginning of this rough skid, as they failed to beat Tigres across both legs of their semifinal matchup.

Pachuca snaps scoring streak

It took 25 matches for Pumas to be shut out again - something Pachuca accomplished by keeping a clean sheet in this first leg of the semifinals.

The last time Pumas failed to score came on Matchday 14 of the Apertura 2025, when they fell 1-0 to Atlético San Luis on November 22.

That 25-game scoring run included 23 Liga MX matches and two CONCACAF Champions Cup appearances.
