Real Madrid round-up: Copa del Rey, Marcelo, Casemiro, Nacho
As Celta Vigo arrive for the Copa first leg, Nacho turns 27, the well-travelled Borbalán takes charge and Hernández joins two Madrid players on a booking away from suspension.
As Real Madrid head into their first leg Copa del Rey quarter final against Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabéu, we look at the news of the day.
Players on a warning
Before the first leg even kicks off, players from both squads know that they are on a warning and could miss the return fixture with a single booking. Marcelo and Casemiro, who would normally be expected to start, for the home side and Pablo Hernandez for the visitors will have to watch their step, or use the situation to the team's tactical advantage as we've seen before.
Nacho celebrates whatever
Today is the birthday of José Ignacio Fernández Iglesias, commonly known as Nacho. The versatile Madrid defender turns 27 years old and is having his most effective contribution to the senior squad since moving up from the youth team. Before he turned 27 the man born in the capital had contested 1,383 minutes across 17 matches, 15 as a starter.
Man in the Copa middle
Fernández Borbalán will be in charge of tonight's game. He has previously overseen 38 games with Madrid involved, with their results showing 23 wins, seven draws and eight losses. With the same official Celta have a record of 6W, 4D, 4L.
The Madrid players met at the Bernabéu at 11:30am this morning where they shared a coach ride to the Valdebebas training facility where they will remain as a unit until they make their way back to the stadium for the match. Berizzo's side left Vigo at 10:30 today as the team made their way to the Eurostars Mirasierra hotel in the capital, six kilometres from the stadium.
