Real Madrid have joined in the celebrations ahead of Chinese New Year, which takes place on Saturday 28 January.

Ramos, CR7, Marcelo and Pepe see in Year of the Rooster

To mark the start of the Year of the Rooster, the LaLiga giants on Friday published a video featuring Sergio Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo and Pepe.

Real stars join traditional meal and speak Mandarin

In the clip, the four team captains appear seated at a table alongside a Chinese family getting ready for a meal to celebrate the occasion.

The host brings in a dish and begins to explain why they have come together, only for the Real quartet to interrupt in Mandarin.

"We know," says Pepe. "Today is Chinese New Year's Eve," declares Marcelo, before Ramos adds: "A day to celebrate with the family."

"To be together," concludes Cristiano.

Chinese New Year

Unlike the 'Gregorian' calendar, which always starts on 1 January, Chinese New Year follows the lunar cycle and marks the beginning of a new moon.
