Hari shot to fame outside the sphere of professional fighting for his friendship with Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The court convicted Hari of two counts of aggravated assault for an attack on Dutch businessman Koen Everink during a party at the Amsterdam Arena in 2012 and an incident in a nightclub owned by Jimmy Woo in the Netherlands’ capital, during which made an attempted assault with a broken glass.

The magistrates said in their ruling that Hari had taken advantage of his “physical superiority” in both attacks.

"Incomprehensible" sentence

Hari, 32, was not present in court during the hearing. The sentence was handed down without the possibility of appeal on the defendant’s part. His lawyer, Benedicte Ficq, termed the sentence “incomprehensible” and confirmed that his client is currently in Morocco but will travel the Netherlands to serve his time.

Hari was convicted of similar offences in October 2015 and sentenced to two years in prison, although he was in custody for eight months and spent the remainder of his sentence on parole.
